Nov 26, 20
As with most herbal remedies and medicines, herbal teas were used for centuries before modern medicine came on the scene. Herbal teas treated injuries, illnesses and other conditions and often did an excellent job of it.
If you are breastfeeding and have been told by your doctor that there are herbal teas which might help you to produce more milk, or have an easier time lactating, you do need to know which teas are going to help you the most. There are some great options out there, and they have been used for centuries to help mothers to take care of their babies naturally.
For some women, a little extra help and support is all that is needed to make the breastfeeding experience easy and fulfilling.
Fenugreek Tea: This tea actually tastes lovely, and reminds many of maple syrup. It has been used for centuries to help mothers to produce more milk, but should be avoided if you are still breastfeeding and pregnant again, as it can cause uterine contractions. This tea has an oestrogen effect and helps your body get the hormones it needs to up production.
Blessed Thistle: This is a digestion tea that also has the benefit of creating more milk production during lactation. This is a harder tea to find, but for some people, it is their favourite.
Stinging Nettle: This is a classic tea that has lots of great health benefits and also ups your milk production. It again cannot be used if you are pregnant again, but if you are not, it has been used for the purpose of bringing on milk for generations and works quite well for many people.
Fennel: This is another tea that has long been linked to milk production and is fairly common, so easy to find. This tea is often in combination with other teas to make a blend, so be certain that the blend that you buy is otherwise safe for you and the baby.
Milk Thistle: This is another herb that offers many health benefits but also can help you to produce more milk. This is another tea that you cannot take while pregnant, but if you are only breastfeeding, this one might be the perfect fit for your needs!
All of these teas can help you to produce enough milk to feed your new baby with ease. Always make certain that you have cleared the use of any of these teas with your doctor before starting to use them. Being able to breastfeed is one of the things that many mothers plan to do from the moment they know they are pregnant. If producing too little milk has been an issue preventing you from breastfeeding, these teas might be the answer to get you and baby bonding easily every day!
